Running a sanctuary for wild mustangs and burros comes with its challenges, particularly the substantial costs associated with their care. From ensuring their well-being through animal care and feeding, to providing suitable facilities and essential equipment, the overhead costs are substantial.

Our unwavering passion drives us forward. We envision a future where every rescued Mustang and Burro finds a loving forever home. Moreover, our vision extends beyond the immediate rescue efforts. We recognize the importance of educating humans about the history of these wild and beautiful animals. We host schools, college classes, organizations, teams and individuals alike. Through interactive programs and immersive experiences at the ranch, we aim to foster understanding and compassion toward these creatures. This endeavor goes beyond the mere act of saving and rehoming animals; it’s about cultivating an environment of understanding, healing, and renewal, where both these majestic beings and humans can find solace, restoration, and the opportunity for growth.

The Heart of Our Mission

We are passionate about Mustangs and love these amazing and resilient animals. The heart of our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome as many as we can. With your contribution, you become a vital part of the journey toward rescuing these animals from facilities and kill pens. At WMR, we offer them a sanctuary where they can once again experience peace and express their authentic, free-roaming nature. 

In a time when the American West was their untamed domain, Wild Mustangs like the ones here at WMR roamed freely. In past centuries, humans owed a great deal to their equine partners. Here in America particularly, the ancestors of today’s Wild Mustangs were a crucial part in helping build this country, as recognized by the fact that, in 1971, the US Senate and House of Representatives enacted Public Law 92-195 to protect the future of these iconic animals, declaring that “…wild free-roaming horses and burros are living symbols of the historic and pioneer Spirit of the West, which continue to contribute to the diversity of life forms within the Nation and enrich the lives of the American people“. Today, as many of these majestic beings seek to rediscover their bond with humans, your crucial contribution becomes the cornerstone. Our Approach

• Rescue and Sanctuary: Our team works tirelessly to rescue Mustangs and Burros from facilities, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment at Wild Mustang Ranch.
• Rehabilitation: We give them the time they need to regain trust in humans, gently taming them, and allowing them to settle into their new lives. Our natural training methods ensure what’s best for the horse (not for the human) is prioritized. 
• Rehoming: Once they’re ready, we find them loving homes where they can live their lives to the fullest. Our team tamed over 400 mustangs the last 6 years and found them good homes domestically and abroad (learn more about Purchasing A Mustang).
• Education: We are passionate to educate humans about the history of the Mustangs through interactive ranch programs, fostering understanding and compassion. School classes, groups and individuals are welcome to attend one of our many events. Contact us to learn more.
• Equine-Coaching: We offer several equine-assisted coaching programs that encourage persons to work alongside our beautiful mustangs while discovering the profound benefits of such a connection. We have coaching programs for businesses, athletes, sports teams and individuals.
